yep, bios manual settings for all main parts ... i tried the asus software to see if there where any advantages but there wasnt, anything it can do you can do via the bios or with a prog like fan speed, but better.

you'll still need to restart with that prog if you want to change you voltages etc. and the monitor software doesnt display core temps, just the tcase temp, which is out mostly anyway and needs calibrating:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/22...perature-guide

btw - about the custome cooling needs and it not being standacd socket , one could even cut back the fins on the stock nb cooler to make a flat surface and attach a heatsink/fan to that but it migh be hard to get it to meet flush, though if you use thermas tape it allows for deviation but possibly doesnt transfer heat as well.

but i think its will be enough to but a GOOD 6 or 8 cm fan on it rather than the noisy little thing asus supplies you with .

in contradiction to what i have said b4 , there seems to actually be a temp sensor for the northbridge after all, my friend helped me make the connection. its likely the "system" temp, as theres not much else running that hot.

to check this i tried turning my new 8cm thermaltake smart fan 2 which i fitted to it to max, and it pretty much immediately pushed the temp down from 55 to 50.

so this is good news! as i can now plug this fan into my rear fan socket and my rear fan socket into my nb socket.

as afaik the nb socket isnt variable speed (via speedfan) its speed is monitorable though. but im not using the variable function on my rear socket , the fan has its own sensor so it can run of the nb plug or even a molex.

see i thought b4 it was just an ambient temp sensor, which i see its not. so now i can run an otherwise noisy fan variable to temp
