Default Modding Gigabyte EP35-DS3 (with pics!)

Hi!

I want to share my VDroop Hardmod on the Gigabyte EP35-DS3 motherboard and hopefully it can help at least someone.

Well, for starters, this board has the ISL6327 chip and NOT the ISL6312 so beware as they have different pinouts. The Gigabyte EP45 has yet another chip with another pinout. Check datasheets at www.alldatasheet.com and look for the "FB" and "VDIFF" pins as these are the ones to be connected with a VR resistor.

I used a 5Kohm resistor but i guess you can use a 10Kohm as well. Harder to get the exact resistance you want though.

I didnt make the soldering myself as this is very tiny and i dont have the right gear.

Never solder directly on the pins but try to find alternative soldering points instead.

The original resistance between these pins were 3.9Kohm.

Be sure not to short the VR resistor, i dont know what will happen Better to adjust the resistance before powering the stuff up.

Not sure what resistance you shoud be using for optimal performance but a good starting point i guess would be to set it to 2Kohm and work your way down from there.

The last two pictures were taken through a microscope

And finally, it works!!!

Nice work!
I was actually scouring the internet for a mod for this board.

Those microscope pics are great too!
I will be trying this as soon as I can get my hands on the parts and someone with soldering skills.
