Hi all,
__________________Right now I have my processor overclocked at 3.32 GHz/FSB and my system is stable. I'm using to much voltage? Here are my settings: CPU Core Voltage 1.40000V CPU PLL 2.00V FSB Termination Voltage 1.50V NB 1.58V DRAM 2.20V My temperatures are pretty stable at idle/regular loads. CPU runs around 32 to 35° C. and MB 38 to 43° C. Any advice would be appreciated. Eagles33

Seems a lot compared to this...
0.85V – 1.3625V As long as you keep it cool you are fine..but it shouldn't need THAT much voltage for a 45nm Your temps seem good as well.

I heard that those new quads oc bad but that voltage should kill the chip as long as its kept cool. Can't you get any more FSB out of it??

Hi habicabi and jeffries7,
__________________Thanks for responding to my thread. I'm new at overclocking and have been experimenting. I'm a little confused about temperature readings. I'm using CPUID program and my motherboard ASUS P5QC has software called PC Probe to monitor temps however, both programs have different readings. This is frustrating because now I really don't know what my operating temperatures are with these voltages. Supposedly, my motherboard is designed with safety features that would shut down to protect it if things got to hot. According to CPUID which reads each individual core my temperatures are running around 50° C and with PC Probe my temps are CPU 29° C. and Motherboard around 35° C. Which one should I believe? Since I last posted am slowly lowering my vCore to try to get things a little cooler if indeed I have a problem. I went from vCore 1.40000V to 1.33750 without any noticeable temperature changes. In retrospect Iwish I picked a different CPU to overclock. In the future I'm thinking about going with the Q9650. Anymore thoughts on temperatures? Eagles33

PC Probe tells you your "CPU Temperature", not your core temperatures. Both are roughly correct, it's just core temperatures are always a fair bit higher, and are the temperatures that you should be watching if any.

Thanks Matt. My core temperatures are running at around:
__________________At Load: 0-- 57° C. 1-- 49° C. 2-- 52° C. 3-- 50° C. Are these temperatures too high? How do you know when you burn up your CPU? Will there literally be black smoke coming from my case? If you burn up the CPU do you also damage the motherboard? I've been running at these temperatures the last week and so far there have been no problems with the system. I'm new to overclocking and any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Eagles33
