Default E6300 Dual Core on Asus P5K-E WiFi

Hey guys. Stock speed is 1.8Ghz and i am currently running at 2.8Ghz with stock cooler and voltage. Anyone know the max speed and voltage with stock cooler. Right now with full on burn my temp peaks at 59 C. Real nice airflow in my case helps. I heard dropping voltage will get me higher. I dropped it to 1.25v and got up to 3.1Ghzwith temp at about 52 C. Ran smooth and was stable until i tried to reboot.

You have a golden chip, my friend.

Yea this chip has done real good for an used chip bought at everyones favorite auction site. I would like to thank my Antec 900 case for the cooling help. It blow my curtains around behind it. When i hit my 3.1Ghz mark it was with 1.25v. Do you'all think 1.35v will give me a more stable OC as far the rebooting issue? I would like to take this config to the max it will go. If you have any questions you need answered to help me achieve that goal I will gladly answer.

Hardly, but still a great overclock. The early Core 2 Duos would easily do 1GHz easy on stock cooling. They had a beefier cooling that today's Core 2s.

Try bumping the VCore to 1.28v. I think 1.35v would put that over 65C, which is balmy for that chip.

This is strange but i just checked my voltage with PC Wizard and it sys it is running at 1.432 and i haven't set any voltage yet. But of coarse this motherboard automatically control a lot of setting in the bios. If 1.36 is max safe then why hasen't it burned up yet. Intel specs say supported voltage is 1.3

Ah, wasn't aware of that.

Why'd they make the stock cooling suck so much? I'd LOVE 3.8ghz on stock.

It's safe to use 1.5 - 1.55v when properly cooled, it's the 65nm E6300 not the 45nm E6300.

For your information, my E6300 does 2.8Ghz at just 1.18v. The early ones are great overclockers. I remember for 3.2Ghz I needed 1.325v and for 3.72Ghz 1.5v.
