Default 750i Ftw Vcore rise under load

I've been having weird results from pencil modding my mobo. Following this picture (http://i334.photobucket.com/albums/m...sc4/vdroop.jpg and only shading the resistor with the blue arrow) I was able to locate the resistor on my mobo and I shaded it in. with 1.23 v in bios i was getting 1.22 stable. Then I added voltage and overclocked but now I'm getting 1.336 in bios, 1.320 in windows and 1.328 under load. I keep getting this result and Ive tried the mod about 10 times (cleaning with 99 percent isopropyl alcohol then reshading). It seems like I'll shade it a few times but still get vdroop then after shading and checking 3 or 4 times the next time i shade more the vdroop goes up under load.

Help?

I don't remember the 750i too well now, but does it have a Vdroop control option? My motherboard also has Vrise, by about ~.015 under load.

no theres no option in bios for vdroop control. Ive had it stable at lower voltages but when i increase vcore it always shows either a drop or raise in vcore under load no matter how much or lil pencil I use I cant seem to get it to work. Also Im using a 2hb pencil instead of 2b bc the 2b pencil I used had no effect on vcore.

I've accidentally gotten Vrise from doing the pencil mod on my 780i, you just need to be really careful how much you do. I ended up doing it with the computer running , one swipe at a time very carefully. It's actually kind of fun watching the voltage change as you do it.

i thought about that but seeing how much graphite goes onto the board I decided agianst it.

I gave it a good blow (every1 can benefit from a good blow) to remove loose graphite and I did another coat with my 2hb making for the 6th or 7th coat this try and now my vdroop looks more stable at 1.320. I dont see how adding more pencil would stop the raise -.-

I highly recommend you NEVER use a pencil to mod, without a MultiMeter!! You have no idea the value of resistance you are asking the vdroop circuit to work with..

Properly done the vdroop will be corrected..with too much resistance, the voltage will go up under load. While it might freak you out a little bit, its kind-of useful..as your CPU doesnt need X amount of volts to sit in windows...just under load. So in a way, you are keeping your CPU cooler at idle...and supplying enough vcore under load to remain stable..

You will be putting additional stress on the mosfets..so make sure to keep them nice and cool now..with active cooling around the socket area on your mobo.

*Almost forgot...get a DMM already if you are modding!!

The .008v increase is normal. I only get it with certain notches on the vcore. It's much better then a .04v decrease.

Yea, DMMs are very nice. Unfortunately, I did my pencil mod before I got my DMM. I just did the mod while my rig was running. Shaded a little, start/stop orthos, checked CPUz, shade a little more, start/stop orthos. You can also shade on either of those resistors. If you feel like you're shading a lot of graphite onto one resistor move to the other one and continue shading. As for the DMM, I've yet to see anyone post a specific value to get rid of the vdroop. I would make a measurement for you, but I shaded on both resistors.

On another note, anyone know of a vDIMM mod for the EVGA 750i/780i boards?

vDIMM mod for those are not recommended..lots of folks have burned up the mosfet circuit for the RAM just running max allowed voltage in BIOS..I think its bad news bears my self.
