First Time Build

Hello,
__________________well i was installing internet in a win 98 computer.. I called 2 guys from the company to help me..(like always.) And they said to me the same thing.They said i can't install internet in a win 98 because it's to old.??? I had internet in that computer since i own it. Does anyone knows if it's true? I had internet with the same company like few days ago, i just did a system recovery.

Well if its a USB adapter or an NIC card he might be right. Almost all wireless/ethernet USB/NIC adapter/cards require Windows 98SE or above. Regular Windows 98 won't work

provided you have the correct ports in your machine and drivers are properly installed then you should have no hassle.
if your modem connects to your machine via ethernet then make sure your NIC is enabled with no errors and if modem connects via USB make sure USB 2.0 drivers are installed (provided it's USB 2 compatible mobo) a lot of people who work in call centres have limited knowledge and probably havent been exposed to Win98 seeing as though XP came out in like 2000-2001.

There was internet when Win95 came out. There's no reason Win98 should have any trouble with the internet. In fact, I have Win98 on one of my folding rigs and it gets on the internet fine.
