Default Kaspersky or NOD32

I know this is a question of preference but I want to see what others think.

I have NOD32 setup and optimized down to the last setting but I wonder if it's good enough. I havent gotten any virus/spyware/trojan/ect. within the past 5-10 months but I also have things like AVG and Ad-Aware SE installed.

I know the 2 best choices are most likely NOD32 and Kaspersky. My parents have used McAfee and Norton for years and I'm the one fixing their computers every week because of a virus or trojan.

But - as for personal experiences - how have you guys seen these 2 work?

I can never be too sure if my NOD32 is doing what it's supposed to do because there is no notifications or anything of that sort. Infact, when I scan with NOD32 (whether or not Im in SafeMode), everything that it scans comes up with [4]Locked and cannot access file blahblahblah. But the scan seems to be actually working because it takes awhile to scan large files. I've seen it pick up a file once or twice before but nothing major.

I just got my first virus with NOD32, 2 hours ago.

Had to use AVG to remove it, NOD32 wouldn't detect it.

I've had NOD32 for 2 years and that was the first virus that it wouldnt detect.

I prefer NOD32 over Kasperspy.

Kaspersky is terrible IMO. I've used everything under the sun and purposely ran packed files to see which I should be using. The one I use personally is a combination of NOD32 and SuperAntiSpyware. I have never gotten a virus period with these two in there. Of course I also have a lot of common sense of what files to open and what not to...

NOD32 is amazing to me because not only does it pick up most of the stuff other AV can't even imagine but it also uses very little resources.

If you don't want to use NOD32 I would have to recommend either Bit Defender, F-Prot, or some other one but I forget the name.

I prefer Nod32. I've got it running on the server and all of my clients here where I work. I've had no problems with it, and I love the fact that the scanner runs so silently in the background of not only the server but also the clients. My choice - nod32.

Thanks for the inputs. I do like NOD32 alot, I personally think its easy to use. It's not brain surgery, just some time to get used to instead of the easy interface - Scan, Schedule Scan, or Update. Everything is in depth, never a bad thing.

I have used a lot of different anti-virus programs in the past...Mcafee, Norton, AVG u name it I probably used it at one time or another. Nod32 is the best I have ever used. It is simple and don't suck all your Windows resources to oblivion. (Ex. Norton)

I use NOD32 myself. . They are both excellent AV's I chose NOD32 because of its small footprint and great heuristics (ability to catch "undiscovered" virus's) . . . Kapersky is the fastest when it comes to the point where a virus's comes to the database till it can be detected on you machine (somewhere like 4 hrs. I think) . . If I remember correctly it also has a rather quick scan time too .. . though Ive never thought my NOD was that bad.

I just acquired the new Kasperky myself and will be installing it on my new laptop next week as soon as I get it. . . Sorry I cant be more of a help to you till then but if I remember Ill try to resurrect this thread with a comparison of both.
