my sister's computer has a problem loading pages that are either login pages or secured pages (like checkouts when buying stuff). the pages won't load, in firefox it comes up as the "could not be found" and in IE the same thing, as if she doesn't have internet setup (but she does).

what could be the problem?

Have you tried clearing all private data from your web browsers? Especially cookies?

Try that and see if it still happens ...

might be a proxy problem. is firefox set to auto-detect? does she have any antivirus/firewall that might be interfering?

haven't been to her house since. but that's what i was thinking, a firewall or proxy problem. i will do those most likely tomorrow and see what happens.

Also check security settings. Firefox uses IE settings when it is first installed. Make sure all security/privacy options are set to default.

uninstal the network device and reinstall it.

i uninstalled the norton internet security. i knew it was causing the problem. now it's working.
