I have a few questions about networking.
__________________1. I have a linksys WRT54GSv4 Router. I set the internet connection type to Static ip. When I start the modem and router and my internet connection type is at static ip, my modem doesn't connect to the internet. When I set my router back to its default connection type the modem connects to the internet. Is there a setting I have to put so that when I start up my modem and router with internet connection type static ip, the modem automatically connects to the internet? 2. Im setting up a home network. I have two pc's that I want to share files with. I set them both to the same workgroup, and I also configured the firewalls so that I can connect them. When I open up My Network Places and Click View workgroup computers, I can see both computers. When I try to connect to computerB from computerA I get prompted that I have to type in a password. When typing in password, I get an error: ComputerB is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have acces permissions. Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.

For your second problem.
Disable windows firewall on both computers, and allow both computers to access other computers.

Router: Hey ISP, here's my static IP. ISP: Erm, no. You can't have a static IP, I want to to use one of the dynamic ones I give you. Router: No, I don't want to use that one, I want to use mine. ISP: Well tough crap, I want you to use this one and until you do you aint gettin' internetz! That's because you should only use the static IP option when your ISP has given you a static IP. Trying static IP mode without an ISP approved static IP means that you won't be able to access the internet. You should only use static IP mode if your ISP has provided you with a static IP address. There's no need to completely disable Windows firewall, you just need to make sure that File and Print shareing is set as an exception.

Lets say each computer belongs to two people, Andy and Bob. Andy's machine should have Andy with password: cobblers and Bob with password: michael jackson. Bob's machine should also have Andy with password: cobblers and Bob with password: michael jackson. Once that's set up Andy would simply have to type in Andy and then cobblers to access Bob's machine, while Bob would only have to type Bob then michael jackson to access Andy's machine.

Your ISP is most probably using a dynamic IP which means it changes every time you connect. If you are telling your router which IP to get 'Static IP' then nothing is going to happen...

Wait im alittle lost. So what you are saying is in ComputerA I only have one account(which is my administrator account), in ComputerB I have 4 user accounts(family computer). So I should create an account on both computers with the same name?

Yes, and password aswell. Do this on your own computer aswell for every user who needs access to your computer.

I did the same account and password for both computers. When accessing my xp pro from my xp home it works but it doesn't the other way around. When I try to connect from xp pro to my xp home and I get prompted for user account and password the user account is greyed out and I cant pick account.
