Default Router Broken?

Hey there, I've got some router trouble. I'm currently trying to use the Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router.

Now, I've got the internet plugged in to the router, and I know this cord is functional because when I plug it directly in to my computer everything runs fine.

However, whenever I try and route anything through it I receive a message telling me that I have limited to no connectivity (i.e no connectivity). I can't seem to get it to work correctly, any ideas?

Thanks

I get that a lot with my router. Most common reasons are: something is disrupting the signal or you need to go into your router settings and configure range mhz. I was having problems with my WRT54GS and once I changed the wireless distance from 20mhz to 40mhz wide, it started to work better.

Oh, woops. Misread your post. Check your settings on the wireless end, security, range, mhz etc. haha sorry. And double check that you have the proper security type selected when connecting to the router, some routers support multiple security types within each general security heading. Such as for WEP, the router may support different variations of the encryption, and when the adapter on your laptop or otherwise goes to connect, it must have the correct variation selected.

Well I'm just trying to get the wired connection to work, I've got the wireless turned off heh.

Also, as a side note, the internet light is solid green, but the "1" light that the computer is hooked to rapidly blinks green.

Hmm, well your router isnt broken so no worries there. I think it could mean you need to reset the modem or router that usually helps when it wont connect. Also, these Linksys routers really arent the best with connectivity and range, I know from experience, so if you get drops or lose connection, you should just try reseting the router.

Try unplugging both your modem and router, and turning off your computer.

Wait 1 minute and then plug your modem in, wait 15 seconds for it to finish, then plug in your router, then turn on your computer.

Make sure you have the latest networking drivers installed for your motherboard and the latest firmware update for your router.

oh. jeez. maybe i didnt' read your post incorrectly. turn off your modem, then turn off your router, turn on your modem, let it come up, then turn on your router, and let that come up. go to the router configuration page (192.168.1.1 or .0.1) and check on the router status page if you have an IP address from the modem or not. If you dont' ahve one, it will say local connectivity only or limited or no connectivity. Make sure the account settings are also correct, as in, is your internet connection always on or does it require a password etc etc.

lol. I would have posted all of this before if I hadn't misread your post TWICE. Oi, i'm tired. long day at work.
