You can also included packet sniffing software it comes in handy when you want to see what is really happening on your network.

edit: by best, I mean it won't leave any viruses/spyware behind (it will detect it all at least) and it doesn't use much resources (i.e. nothing like the last norton I used)

Hey guys, I have Charter High Speed Security Suite which comes with my internet. I really never thought of upgrading it. Do you think any of these free programs are better than what I have now. It is really made by F-Secure or someone like that.

If I do need to change can any of these work side by side with my current suite? And if I do take out the Charter suite entirely should I have multiple firewalls and anti-virus, etc.?

I have used AVG, Avast!, and Antivir, and I personally don't like avast or antivir. Try them all though

and TrueCrypt is great for encryption once you read all of the user guide

you should add Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.24, as anti-spyware, it removed something that nothing else could,it is very useful and helped me not to reformat
