Im looking for a maintenance free wireless router. Im setting it up for an older person that is pretty computer illiterate so thats why it needs to be maintenance free and stable. If all possible it would be nice to get one around the 50 dollar range. Thanks

Maitenance free and wireless don't go together!
![]() However I know that the Linksys WRT54G is quite a good router.

yup. takes time to get it flashed and set how you want it (and get heatsinks on it lol), but once it's up those things only go down unless you tell it to, power goes out, or a force of nature causes it's demise.
but on its own it's pretty good, and a friend's home i set up almost never needs maintenance and even then it's just a simple power reboot. signal strength is pretty good, and works well through 2 floors to get to a basement. i personally haven't had issues with a D-link DI-524. then again i rarely saturate network connections so the 54Mbps isn't much of a hindrance. for a basic home wireless setup it's great. it's signal strength is kinda an issue past 30-40 feet indoors, having a wall or two between kills signal faster than on the Linksys.
