Default new Vista PC wireless and wired connection issue

Both my wifi and wired internet connection have run slower on my new PC with Vista installed. It's most noticeable when playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and I'm CONSTANTLY getting "Connection Problem" flashing on the screen with stuttering and lagging. Not sure what the deal is.

Also, when I'm downloading a file I can't do anything else on the internet during that time.

Router is Airlink 802.11b (outdated, I know). When using wireless I use the integrated wifi through my P5K-Deluxe. Mostly though I just plug in the wired because it works better.

Has anyone had a similar issue with Vista? So far this has been my only complaint with this OS.

I did not have any wireless issues with my wireless, and I play games without a problem, Wireless B is your problem I'm sure, it's slow and you are probably interferring with other signals, try changing your frequency (channel) on the router.

I never had the problems I'm having now on my crappy old computer while using the same router. I did have very occasional lag in Wolf:ET but hardly ever the "Connection Problem" message popping up on my screen. Plus, it's happening while plugged in with network cable so that doesn't have anything to do with 802.11b. Also, I could load internet pages while downloading large files. Now I can't.
