Yes it is. You can also flash it with any version. Mini and full firmware version.

It's a Ver. 2?! Lucky.... The older the model... the BETTER it is! Version 2 has 16MB RAM and 4MB flash. Some even have 32MB of RAM that are software locked. Version 7 only has 8MB RAM and 2MB Flash.
Here are the differences in the WRT54G versions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54G

Im doing the upload now, hopefully everything goes ok. im using dd-wrt.v23_mini_wrt54g.bin because i read that i should install the mini version if im coming from default linksys firmware. i already set everything to factory default, and saved all the tutorial web pages to desktop. and i also read that i should use IE instead of firefox due to some people having upload fail on them? anything else i should check before upload?

version 2 is one of the best versions, so your definitely on the lucky side right there, you can flash it with just about anything, except for the firmwares that require over 4mb flash, i have a 3.1 and a gs and couple other ones, flash it with rc7 generic standard (or mini), i usually go mini cause standard offers me nothing
