Default IP Conflict?

Well my cousin had come over last weekend and he brought his own PC over so we could both have a PC to play games on all night and I tried hooking up both of our PC's to the internet so we could play BF2 or CSS and I hooked it up from modem to router and then one cable to each of our computer but when we turn our computers on and try to get online, only 1 is able to get online and the other says "Conflicting IP Error" or something along that line. Even when my mother and I try to get on at the same time, me using a wire, and her using the wireless, we get that error as well.

How do we fix this? Is there any way?

That means you are both being assigned the same ip. Go to network connections and right click on "TCP/IP settings" and click on properties. Set your own ip's, make sure they're different.

this usually happens when one person has a static ip and the other does't. Run CMD and type in "ipconfig /all" do what the guy who posted above me said and copy the info from dos to your tcp settings, do it for both computers.

It happend to me sometimes...either
1. DHCP- in the router you have it restricted too little users maybe
2. Restart one computer at a time and that fixes everything

And one of those computers are not running DHCP then because it would look at the network and would assign that computer with a different IP address no matter what.

So do we just type in a random number for the IP?
