I have 3 computers. THey are all hooked up to a router with ethernet cables. I Need to share a printer hooked up to computer 2 with 3. Computer 2 and 3 are splitting a connection through a hub.

computer 2:
name: TONYA
firewall: Symatec Client Firewall

Active network: office

Other info: Has printer hooked up, setup home office network, printer is set to share.

computer 3:
name: Judy

Windows Firewall: disabled

I can't access the shared printer at all. It doesn't show up on the network. When I try to goto, "View workgroup computers" I got an error that says, "wokgroup is not accessible..."

Have you run the Network setup wizard, and checked "share printers"? And/or, have you located the printer in explore, gone to the "sharing" tab, and allowed it to be shared?

On computer 2 that has the printed installed I have ran Network setup wizard and selected, "This computer connects to the internet through an other computer." THen I went into the printers options and set it to share and gave it a share name of, "Tanya's Printer"

I had a similar issue when swapping printers on my main system.
I had to make sure all computers were in the same workgroup, setup the printer on host system and then rebooted.
Made sure all computers were on the same workgroup, then rebooted them all.
Went back to host system, and shared printer and rebooted that system.
Went and had a cider.
After network discovery happened (while I was drinking a cider), I then went to the remote systems and added the printer. Windows found it and installed the correct software.

BTW: You usually only choose that option if the _main_ system has the modem connected directly to it. If all the systems share a connection through the router/hub, that is the wrong option.

A couple questions:

What printer are you trying to install?
What drivers are you using for each computer?
Is it a USB, Serial, or Network Printer?
What are the OS'es of the Computers?

I know that certain manufacturers, make "network drivers". For example HP. I use an HP 7450 (something around that), and it comes with a normal driver (Desktop use) and a network driver (Network use). Now sometimes it is rather hard to set it up since if is connected to a linux OS. So both drivers on the same machine arn't the same. But see if there is more than one driver. If you are using two different OS'es, that can cause a problem.

Hey guys, I got it figured out. The symantec firewall needed some adjusting. I had to supply an IP range into the safe zone, run the networking wizard on the second computer, reboot both systems and bam! it worked. Thanks for everyons help!
