Hey all
I'm looking for some internet access to use for a server... What are my options? (From cheapest to highest) I live in California, so I cannot get FiberFios. ![]()

punch in your zip code and you can look up pretty much all available servicese in your area. What you really need to determine is how much upload you need for the server. Figure out how many hits per day you think\hope to get. If it's lets say 3000 or less, than pretty much any home ISP would suffice as 150-300k UL will do fine with small loads. If you're hoping to get a very large site running, then you should start looking into something like a T1, as they guartenee upload speeds, unlike a home ISP, where your service is "best effort".

Try looking for some symmetrical plans. Seriously, if you can bust 5 mbits up/down with a home server, hats off to you, even some hardcore torrenting can hardly break 5 mbit up.
