McAfee Virusscan Enterprise is the best antivirus I've ever worked with. Most customizable and reliable. Set it once and forget.

Hands down Bullguard.

The firewall features of it alone are very impressive.

After using Bullguard for 3 years, and NOD32 for a month, I am ready to go back to bullguard.

Much easier to configure it, much nicer to work with, very advanced and neat features as well.

Review.

It consumes a bit more than NOD32 does, but I find it consistently stops port scans (and tells me about it) while NOD32 either doesn't tell me, or doesn't block them.

To this, I would say yes & no. Instead of getting into a diatribe, check out this site: http://www.av-comparatives.org/

Kaspersky has been pretty much the top dog for a number of years now. Theres a couple others, but keep in mind, many of these other apps utilize the Kaspersky engine(s).

NOD32 has been a very good AV app for a very long time as well. I would certainly trust it on my PC to do it's job. As a matter of fact, I have used it in the past & would not hesitate to recommend it. It is also the fastest scanning AV application i've ever come across.

Perform an On-line scan to see if you aren't in deep doo-doo already

-------------------------------------------

This was something I was very passionate about a number of years ago when I got a Trojan installed on my PC by my own negligence(By the way, I was using Norton products back then). After reformatting a ton of times, I downloaded trial after trial to find the one that suited me the best. Ironically, it kept coming down to Kaspersky or NOD32 with Kaspersky being the winner in my book.

With that said, Norton does have it's place in a Business Environment. Never, ever, ever, ever install it on your personal PC!!!!!!!!!! I have had no choice but to reformat a number of people's PCs because of this malware application. Worse yet, an acquaintance tried to get support because it screwed up his OS. They pawned it off on Microsoft. He ended up having to actually pay Norton over $200 to get one of their 'techs' to troubleshoot the issue. You'll never guess what the outcome was..... Reformat/Reinstall .... I'm done with this individual by the way as he purchased a new PC(an HP from Best Buy after I advised him to do his own build) that had a McCrappy trial he ended up activating.

Also folks, although the "Free" AV apps that are available are nice & will prevent the obvious threats, you also get what you paid for. I would have to ask you where you think the brilliant coders of these apps end up?

The bottom line to this is you are only as susceptible as you let yourself be. If you're careful, your risk becomes that much lower.

Now, be careful out there
