Verizon is an amazing company to deal with, at least in my experience. Easy to get through to, people speak ENGLISH because they are Americans. Good price and speed; can't ask for much more!

Totally agree with blade. I live in the same area, and also got Fios recently. We picked up the new Actiontech router (MI424-WR) which runs Linux, I believe. Either way it is really quite configurable. We also have Fios TV and phone, so the set top boxes connect via coax using the MoCA networking setup.
Either way, it is a great deal and is quite fast. I don't know much about setup since I was out of town when they did it, but it couldn't have been too much for my parents to handle. Go for it!

I am a very satisfied Fios user. The phone customer support is, as usual for Verizon, OK at best but the few times I've had techs out to the house they're always good and know their stuff. The service is outstanding - we pay for 20/5 and get not a single kilobyte less.

The included router is not bad at all - I was worried it'd be junk but it's got a good feature set.

System: Linux exclusive? I think so.
