Default What type of security?

After using the McAfee Internet Security, for over a year, I've become fed up with it's resource hogging. It slows my computer down like crazy. After looking at alternate programs, I've been wondering:

Is it better to get a full internet security suite or just have a separate antivirus and firewall? Which protects better or uses less resources?

Yea, I've heard great things about it too, but would the Smart Security Suite be better to get or just the Nod32 Antivirus with some other firewall (cuz I would like both some how)?

Yes you could get the Smart Secutiry... its just as quick, do you use a router because some routers have a firewall built in.... My Netgear DG834G has a great firewall.

I installed the Smart Security Suite on my friends laptop, he had been using Zonealarm. He rang me up after a couple of days and said that he couldn't believe the performance increase he got from just swapping security suites... That was about 5 months ago and he's had no problems with it.

I dunno, I use Microsoft's MN-700. I think it has a firewall but I'm not sure.

Anything with the word Microsoft usually isn't that great. But it depends. Did you get it from your ISP company or otherwise?

I would recommend looking at AVG or ESET NOD 32 for AV. Though, I enjoy having Server security. So unless you want to go and buy 500 dollars with of software, then all you need is Symantec Client Security. ;P

For a Firewall, your best bet, Sygate Personal Firewall. Though I don't use it, from what I have heard in the past, it's pretty good.

I usually just set up my router and make sure that it is locked down pretty tight so that I can make sure there won't be any intruders on my network via wireless, web, or ethernet.
