Avg 8.0
I used to use AVG 7.5. It was great, very light and good protection, but I keep hearing 8.0 is somewhat bloated compared to it? Is this true? How does it compare to 7.5? No, I don't want to pay for an AV so don't recommend me NOD32. I'm also thinking about Avast.

It's a full suite now. I still use it. I noticed some lagging problems when it first came out but with several updates since it's gone.
It includes some spyware and email protection. It's also linked with Google so when you search for something it displays a check or an X, if the site is safe or not. I like it, but with 2.5Gb of RAM and almost 3Ghz processor, I don't notice a slow down.

i run avg 8 on my server and while i haven't paid close attention to it, i haven't noticed any slow down

I haven't seen any slowdown with it either, though resident shield likes to bust some of my apps when they are perfectly fine.
