Default [Result]CAT5 vs CAT6

I was curious about the differences in speed of the CAT5 and CAT6 RJ-45 cable. Here are my results:

CAT5:

CAT6:

Looks like connection speeds didn't increase, however my ping was split in half

IMO its worth getting CAT6.

How many times did you run each test?

You replace the cable to your modem? Cable to your router? Both?

i dont think running the test 2 times is definitive enough to say cat 6 is better than cat5.

Yeah, please elaborate. Were the results repeatable? How about in a game, did the cable type make a difference in ping?

I would like to know that too.

I doubt a cut in ping like that was due to a changed cable.

Transfer a file larger than 1 gig between two computers (each with gigabit ethernet) and post those results.

I did a test with each cable 2 times and choose the better score. Cable was connected directly to modem.

Well... Cat6 is definitely better than Cat5/5e. However, real world gain to your ISP should be close to zero. Local networks should be improved though.

That's what I was thinking, as the major improvement would be in a LAN setup, where as any ethernet cable can really handle the throughput needed to hit your ISP's cap.

I highly doubt a changed cable would effect the latency that much
