Good way to mock a somewhat meaningful test. I am A+ certified, i am sure it is much different now, however.

Next i will get network+ and server+.

Do NOT underestimate Network+. I passed, but it was close

That is a hard test, the TCP/IP questions were a cinch, but it goes into NetBIOS (I'm still not really sure what this is) Apple talk, Token Ring, Active Directory, and just generally a lot of Novell stuff that I've never used nor have even seen being used.

Aw, sad to hear. Ill be taking a class next year for CCNA. And to get my a+ cert as well.
I dont want to waste the time if I could just read through some stuff and skip a year of a class.
Will I learn other things in CCNA as well? Anyone else taken this or the "security" classes?

I'm going for this in the coming months.
I originally went for it a few years ago but was turned away due to lack of identification.
I don't need it myself just to show the silly people during interviews I have a piece of paper. People just think your a rookie until you show them something like an A+ or MSoft certification.

It goes nothing into detail about knowledge on how a computer/motherboard and it's components really work and communicate . Nothing about binary data or electrical pulses and conversion, nothing like that at all. I recommend you dont waste your time on it, but you said it was for fun, so enjoy I guess if you really want it.

Sure it is kinda dumb. But some high end jobs REQUIRE this. I know I have applied for a few Electrical Engineering jobs and they want you to have A+ just for extra reference.

So don't knock it.

I saw an A+ book at Barnes and Nobles that I was thinking about buying. It was a 2006 edition though. They put the previous years editions on sale, but I don't think there is that big a difference between editions in one year.

Edit: How much does the test cost to take when I feel I'm ready?

I would agree, If any of you remember when I posted the practice-test in a related thread, the tests have been updated and are getting a tad difficult.

That is a good price. So that book is a complete source for taking the test? When I see study guide it makes me think it is in addition to some other book.
