I as well have a D-link DGL-4300 and the WRT54GL at my fiance's place. I can't really say I notice a difference between the two to be honest.

explain to me why
__________________Linksys WRT54GL with the DD-WRT firmware is so great... yay... you can OC it... Thats like overclocking a regular watch. Yeah, technicaly its faster then yours.. but you will never know the difference. Its not going to make your internet go faster. Hell if your that worried about the speed, go with a Killer NIC. those take the whole network stack and offloads it to its own CPU called (NPU network processing Unit). But, the recomendation is a good solid router with range and stability would be N hands down. Uses MIMO to get extra range and uses accepts Multipath signals giving it more stability. The 4-5x speed is only a gimic to get people to buy it. Yeah its faster.. But DONT BUY IT BECAUSE OF THAT... buy it because its more reliable and extends further.

I've got the netgear wireless N router and a N card for my laptop. Plays BF2 and COD4 online with no lag - just like being hardwired.

Technicaly N would be better, it would be faster....248Mb/s is > 100Mb/s Cat 5. Interference might be an issue though. If its faster then that means less latency... but the 0.1ms that you save isnt quite worth the reliability that a hard line gives... but wireless is sooo freekin easy to set up then to run wires.
