Default Clear CMOS for Network Name

Will clearing the CMOS reset a computer's name on a network?

I doubt it. It just resets the motherboard to stock settings.

No. A computer name is an OS value and not a motherboard value. The only network identifier on your motherboard itself is the MAC of your onboard NIC.

To change the computer name on a network.. right click on my computer and goto Computer Name.. should be able to set it there if you have administration rights.

Ya, I am unable to get into Windows do to a network issue (Duplicate name on network). this is my computer at work and software for the network is installed on it so I am unable to log in local-only.

Right click on my computer and hit properties.

Go to the tap up top called "Computer Name".

Click on the button that says "Change...".

And type in a new name!
