I need a router for my apartment next semester. I don't need it to be that strong since it's just an apt and will go through 1 wall max. Budget is an issue (college student
) and I DO NOT want a linksys. Any suggestions?

Buy a linksys wrt54g and flash it with ddwrt. I think you can pick up the routers pretty damn cheap on ebay.

Try the NetGear WGR-614 and update it to the latest firmware:
http://www.netgear.com/Products/Rout...rs/WGR614.aspx Haven't had any issues with it, and mine has had an uptime of up to 80 days.. using wireless heavily, as well as wired ethernet.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll start trolling ebay
I've had more problems with linksys at my house than I have ever had with any other company

Actiontec MI424WR
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?Inv...p=MI424WR-PB-R This is a slightly older version of the router Verizon gives out to FiOS customers. I have one that actually replaced my WRT54GS running Tomato because it did everything I needed and had a better interface. Probably the best "gimmie" product I've ever used. It is technically a modem for FTH applications, but has a ethernet WAN as well that works fine.
