Default Uninstalled Norton- now I cant connect to internet

I uninstalled Norton with teh norton remover tool. I installed Trend Micro Pc Cillin, which I like a lot. Now I can not get on teh internet. I can not see any network drives, yet under 'network connections' it shows it as connected. I can not ping any site either. Any suggestions?

Also, this occurs even when trend micro is disabled.

There's no such thing as getting rid of Norton. It's a terrorist program and binds itself to so many areas of your system. When you removed it, it might've taken a setting with it.

when you go to network properties, which connections are listed?

try going to device manager and disable/enable your NIC

The norton network driver hasn't come off properly thats why, the connection is probably still firewalled, and without norton to control it, its basically set to ON all the time. You can try to re-install the tcp/ip stack and the winsock, that might fix it, also re-installing your nic driver might work.

Try this:

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

That will fix all of the winsock files.

Right click your nic card ----> properties -----> uncheck the box beside tcp/ip , hit ok, then go back into where you were and re-check the box. To reset the winsock go to the command prompt and type netsh winsock reset.
