Me and my family have 3 computers using 1 internet connection, and everytime they restart their computer it restarts the router/modem. Does anyone know what could cause this to happen?

It's probably because it's a combo unit (modem and router). One PC is probably designated as the primary when the modem boots, and it is assigned priority. When that PC is shut down the modem has to reset to change the priority device.
That's just a theory. Try hooking up a real router, should fix the issue regardless, as it won't get turned off.
