Default networking tutorials?

im about to move on to the degree in applied networking and plan to do a bit of reading on cisco and such as i will probably be doing a lot of that

anybody know of any good links to sites, video's or tutorials that will be good to read before I start this course?

You can try searching for CCNA exam/tutorials... I believe the course content for CCNA should have sufficient coverage for applied networking, or at least cover the basic foundations for it..

The CCNA covers more or less the following topics:

Switch Configuration (oriented towards Cisco Catalyst switches)
Routers (oriented towards Cisco 1900/2600 series routers)
VLSM (Variable Length Subnet Masking) CIDR
Access control and filtering
Routing protocols (RIP,OSPF,EIGR etc)
Spanning Tree Protocol...

plus some other stuff I can't recall...
