Hey everyone, ok so right now I just have an old netgear wireless router hooked up because I've been having troubles with my new Linksys WRT54G. Yesterday I hooked i up, went through the program and everything and voila it worked! This morning I get up and my wireless card connects to the router, but the internet doesn't work, so I go check out my router and modem and on my modem theres no more blinking light for the "send" light. And so when I try to open the internet it doesn't work. So I hook back up my old netgear router, and for some reason, the send light on my modem works again. I don't get how the Linksys was working fine for a day, I go to sleep for a few hours, get back up and it doesn't work. I've tried resetting it and the modem about a hundred times already, but it still doesn't seem to work. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated

When you plug in the WRT54G unplug your modem for 30 seconds plug it back and let it reboot/refresh/whatever you call it. The reason for this needing to be done is it has two different mac addresses and if you have a Dynamic IP = new mac = New IP (Usually) But that's all you need to do is reset your modem. Oh and change the settings on the main page as to weather or not it should be DHCP.

Have you tried resetting the router to factory defaults by pressing the reset pin in the back? I would see if you can get it to work with only the absolute basic setup and then add security, check again, add another feature...

Hey thanks for both responses, so far I have it set on the basic settings, so no security up at all yet. But yea, I've been resetting it, but I've only waited about 5-10 seconds, so I'll wait about a minute or so next time. Thanks for the help!

Unplugging the cable modem would probably be the best solution, yeah.

As long as your modem "locks on" (usually shows a solid cable or internet light) and you can verify that you have connection there then the finger points to the router itself. With factory defaults, it should have no problem locking on. Could be a bad router.

It can lock on without anything plugged into it though. At least mine can.
