I want to make it clear that IN NO WAY AM I ENDORSING OR TRYING TO GET ANYONE TO USE THIS PROGRAM!
(now that that's out of the way) What is the buzz about this program? I just heard about on youtube from LockerKnome (Chris Pirillo). Its called Open DNS and I am just not sure about what it does exactly. Supposedly the "buzz" is that it makes your Internet Browsing slightly faster and slightly more discreet and secure. Tell me what you know please, my wise Internet AND Freeware addicted comrads ![]() (I don't to provide a link becaues I thought that would make me look like a spammer and I know how much I wanna burn their fingers so they don't live off of the misfortune and trusting of innocent everyday people. )Just google it ![]() thanks ![]() EDIT: Funny, I just saw an advertisement for a DNS Advisor Pro at the bottom of my Overclock.net page after I posted

It is an alternate DNS server you can use to circumvent the slow ones that your ISP provides.
More info on the Domain Name System (DNS). Enables keyword browsing as well as speed. Tons of awesome features listed here. openDNS website.

Yups, Dirts got it.
If you want to avoid reading hit links. DNS = Domain Name Server You PC has no idea what, where, or who www.overclock.net is. There for when you request to see that website you PC asks a DNS where it is. The DNS will have most major websites cached in it's memory, so it can tell you the IP address of the website, then you can properly navigate to the server hosting the website ![]() Open DNS is just a step above the DNS server that you're currently using and is provided by your ISP to you. All DNS servers are setup to share their information so that anyone on the internet can find any website, but Open DNS normally updates faster than ISP DNS servers etc.
