No. Its not possible. You'll have to use an ethernet port.

You can, you just need to setup your PCs WiFi as an access point and you should be able to connect without any problem. But why you want to do that? That way to have internet on the PS3 you need to have your computer turned on.

If I remember correctly, even windows' utility enables you to setup your wireless device as an access point, even through the networking wizard. Can't give you the details right now since I'm not at home or have a wireless computer around me.
EDIT: But any case, using a wireless router would be better than using a computer as an AP, unless your routers wireless is slower.

I Know there is an option for another device "PS3,Xbox 360, and other laptops" to connect to the Internet through another computer but that device must still be attached to the laptop via ethernet.

I've connected a Wii and even an NDS to a PC using it as an AP with a WiFi USB stick. So connecting a PS3 or any other computer would work as well.

Ah, I see. That wraps it up then. If you know how, when configuring your wireless network on the computer, just set it as an AP.
EDIT: When I get home I can check my notebook on what steps I take to do so and let you know. I had a good tut for windows XP but windows' vista methods are slightly diffrent.
