If you are hooking up your linksys router to your existing router your isp gave you, you run a cable from one of the ports to the internet port on the linksys router, then make sure the linksys router is set to dhcp mode, that way the 1st router will assign an ip address to the 2nd router and the 2nd router will assign ip's to the computers connected to it.

Call up your ISP and ask them how to turn the modem's router off. So then it only works as a modem. If you can't do that, then, do this. Call your ISP and complain to them about you don't like your modem router and that you only want a modem. That will make things much simpler for you I believe.

Alright, you need to plug the Modem into port.
![]() You see where it says WAN port? That is where the internet modem needs to be plugged into. It may be different on yours. But it should be relatively the same. Then, plug your compuers into LAN 1, 2, 3, 4.

I have been experienced with routers (just never encountered this before) I know how to hook one up. I know the WAN port is called internet port on mine and the pc I'm on now goes to LAN 1 port and my xbox 360 goes to LAN 2 the xbox 360 does not get internet either but I do notice the data light quites blinking when I plug the router in.
