Default router install with no cd help!!! need answer ASAP

I cant seem to get the router to install without cd. I saw couple of tutorials but those were for netgear routers is there a step by step guide on how to do it? also when I went to ipconfig all on command dns was the only thing blank and my modem has router built into it also. When I hook the router up I am able to access router setting with 192.168.1.1

If you need more info LMK and I'll respond as fast as I can.

Well first off, what brand of router is it? And what model? You know you can go to their website and get all the software for that router.

un hook the router and hook up to the net . goto netgear and down load the programs you need . hook the router back up and install .
if you modem has a hdcp in it i do believe you have to disable it on the router.

Linksys has all the software you need, be sure to look at the version of router it is, such as a 1.0 ,1.1, 2.0 etc... they have ibnstructions on where to look for the version number on the router. It's an easy thing to find. Mine is a WRT54GS version 1.0 hehe and I hope it never dies lol, it has the fastest processor and the most RAM, they downsized the RAM after the first version....

They just made changes after the first version, I sure to save money. But yours is fine. Just hehe if you ever see a version one for sale somewhere (used probably) grab it lol. But your router is fine. Get the software and enjoy. I never use the router software, unless of course I'm using a wireless card and need the driver for the card. Software for the router is not needed, if you are wired in direct you can go to 192.168.1.1 and get to the router page just fine.

Here is a quote from their page for Vista drivers;

"WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster Technology - Not Required"

Vista already has the driver needed.
