Default proxy "switch"

i was wondering if there's any "proxy software" that i could turn on and off if i want to go through a proxy without having to visit one of the proxy sites and load everything through them. i'd like to be able to "switch on" the software and then visit sites and post on forums without my real IP showing and then "switch off" the software when i'm not using it or if i'm just surfing and not doing anything important

is there anything like this?

You can get firefox extensions and the like. Yes the software/extensions exist.

Hmm, I really haven't used them before i've just seen the extensions. You may need multiple extensions if you can't find one that can do what you need completely.

Download a copy of Hide IP Platinum and see if you like the free trial. Click to turn it on, click again to cycle your proxy, auto updates, very simple to use. All you have to do is leave your browser setup to automatically detect settings, and when you first turn hide IP on, you have to close any open browser and then reopen to ensure it uses the proxy.
