I have this Linksys Wireless PCI Adapter Card that I bought a week ago. A few days ago when I tried connecting to an unsecure network and it worked fine, I was connected. Well I updated Windows Vista with a few updates yesterday and I tried connecting to the same unsecure network today, but it gives me this error:
__________________"wireless association failed due to an unknown reason" Now I did some Google searches and ended up finding the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233/en-us I tried doing what it said on there, but I'm stuck on the "In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network." part of it. How do I find out the GUID subkey? Also, if anyone has any other information on this problem please let me know, thanks.

You could go to the Linksys website and see if they have a updated driver or patch for Vista.

I would just take a look at each of them and guess. Because I have 4, but 5 of them appear in that registry key. Rule out some of the ones you know, by looking at the IP that is listed on the adapter.

I have 4. The first one doesn't have anything in it except 'default.' I'm thinking I could rule 2 others out because they have "2wire.net" under 'DhcpDomain' and I believe that would be my router since it's a 2Wire router.

Well I'm not 100% sure, but I think a windows update caused this problem. The thing is, I don't know which update. So I wanted to ask, would it be smart to uninstall all updates and then see if I'm still having the problem?

You can reinstall all of them again, so I wouldn't see a problem in that.
