Default Net problem...

My sister is not able to get online at her house and Cox cable said it was her NIC. So she brung me the computer so I could R & R her NIC. Well before doing so I plugged it into my network and it gets online with no problem and is seen by the rest of my network.
She took the computer home and she still has the same problem. She changed the cable from the modem to the NIC, changed the cable from the wall to the modem. Cox said there equipment is working fine and won't help.

Anyone here have any ideas?

Thanks

you have rule out the computer + wires as the problem. that leave the modem.

The problem is cox. They just don't want to issue the money to have someone go out there.

Call them up and have the modem unplugged when they run their tests. That way you can make someone come out there.

Also, have her look at the lights on the modem. Has she experienced any slow speeds before it just stopped working? A cut line maybe?

I was having all sorts of connectivity issues and constantly needed to reset the modem. Usually, if you unplug the net cable and then unplug the power for a minute or 2, power up the modem, let it synch etc., then plug in the PC, ipconfig /renew and see if that works.

That is what they get for trying to be cheap. Lazy ass.

I should start my own ISP and not BS anyone. Would probably be better then most ISP's today.
