Default Pas d'internets

So, I feel really damn dumb now because at least earlier today my PC was working in a bearable state. I was having networking issues, as my filesharing wasn't working, said I didn't have permission to access another computer even though I just did a file transfer 2 days ago, literally, and I wanted to do the same thing today, no dice. Another symptom of networking woes was that my printer wasn't working on any of the PC's on the network other than the one it was connected to (the one with all the problems, now). At any rate, a friend was trying to help me solve these problems, and none of his solutions helped so he suggested I drop the proverbial networking nuke and reinstall my network drivers, which I did. Now, after 3 reinstalls of the Marvell networking driver that comes with the DFI DK X38, I still boot up to find that I have no internet access; I even tried to recycle my modem to make sure. The green LED's on the LAN socket are lit, so there's an electric signal, but when I do a cmd > ipconfig /all I find that I don't even have an IP address, it's 0.0.0.0. I'm desperate, I need to get this PC back on its feet short of doing a reformat, if anyone has advice or instructions I would greatly appreciate it.

I've done cmd > inconfig /flushdns, and it says successfully flushed, as well as ipconfig /release, but it says that Local Area Connection 4 has already been released. I've located the problem to RPC, where it isn't really doing anything, and Local Area Connection 4 says that it's trying to renew my IP address.

Thoughts? I'm really trying to get this PC back in its feet without a reformat.

Have you tried to power down the router also ? Also check your firewall & network setting to make sure your configuration are right. Here's a program that may help also, another thing to try before doing a reformat is a system restore.

EDIT: You can also disable RPC to see if that is the problem My Computer>Manage>Services & Applications>Services. Choose RPC in the right hand pane in the general tab select disable.

I would pay close attention to your networking commands you enter, and if it happens again, try to find out what it is that's causing it, you might have just had some connection lapse, it happens to everyone. I wouldn't worry about it unless a few days from no you get recurring problems, but I would say to disable your connection, then completely pull the power on the router for 30 seconds, then enable the network connection, and turn the router on, usually helps get your ISP back on track, and your connection a fresh start.
