BTW.... does your ISP allow servers? They might cut your connection for doing so... or require you to get a business connection.

It will still work, but I think it will change the port to port 8080. Which shouldn't be blocked by your ISP. You can also set up a proxy in the config settings.

I've never been throttled and I really don't foresee tons of traffic in my immediate future so this shouldn't be a problem if I overcome the blocked ports. Blocking the ports is probably their way of saying take your server and shove it.

If you get Boost for an extra $10 a month, you can unlock port 80. Plus you also get 30/5 speed

Been there, done that. Getting boost doesn't unblock the ports, just allows more bandwidth.

Exactly me sentiments.
![]() On a semi-positive note, it turns out that Unspokenfor was correct with the fact that Boost allows for the opening of ports 25 and 80, seems that they include off-site hosting for that plan also. Its a bit much ($120yr) but I suppose its the most direct solution. Thanks to all for your responses.

You don't need port 80 open inbound if you are browsing the web, the idea is to try and stop you running servers.
I don't agree with it, but then again, I think all the ISPs suck. Throttling, blocking, etc... They should just provide the service the sell, no more, no less.
