Default 2 Cable modems.....

I have a wireles PC that is upstairs....its next to a cable line.....

if i got another cable modem could i use that cable hook up so i wouln't have to be wireless?

It depends on your ISP, but I'm 99% certain that you can't.

Yes this is possible.

However, you will have to pay your cable company more.

First you have to get the expensive cable modem... then you have to pay for another IP address on your account so the modem can connect to the ISP.

Why not just run a wire from upstairs to downstairs? You can either go in wall or around the baseboards so long as it doesn't exceed 300ft.

what most isp do is give you two ip numbers(forget the exact terms). they usually charge like $10 more for the second number.

Each cable modem is charged as another full account with most Cable ISP's so you'd be paying for a whole other account to use a 2nd modem.

My ISP charges $5 per new modem, but you usually have to buy a whole new account.
