Default How to set up wireless?

Well I've never set up wireless before... I'm moving my system to my room and I need to go wireless because there's no phone cable in my room. So what do I do?

Can someone please explain/write-up a step by step guide ?

Or advice is good too ?

Handing out Rep like candy for those who deserve it

Thanks,

~B~

Do you have your components yet?

Plug everything in.
Connect router to modem.
Set up a WPA password and broadcast ID on your router.
Install wireless NIC on your PC.
On your PC, select the router from the list of available routers.
Type in your password.
Disable router ID broadcasting.

Most routers now a days will have their set up procedure in the modem. Just type in it's corresponding IP address usually labeled on the back of the router. Then it will have a setup wizard. Pretty much self explanatory from there.
Oh yeah and as DuckieHo stated turning off the router ID broadcasting will prevent people from stealing your interwebz.

I have a router/modem combo... 2Wire P.O.S.
So it's same thing as on a laptop? You just search for connections then type in my password and I'm good?

Oh and +Rep to you
