I don't know if many routers have this option, but Tomato has an option to set the total number of wireless devices that can connect to the router at once. Is this effective?

Thanks for the nice guide btw.

I'm not too familiar with that. Sounds like a nice feature, especially if you can set priorities.

That option doesn't seem too useful. Someone could easily deauth you and then take your spot so you couldn't even reconnect.

Pretty nice write up for the people out there needing some knowledge on their network protection. WPA2 is always best to use, WEP is the worst. I've seen a friend of mine crack a WEP encryption in less than 15 minutes with his Ubuntu laptop.

Well, that is the poin, right.
I know with DD-WRT you can set the hours automatically that wireless will be active.

As said before, no home wireless is 100% secure, the goal is to just make your a less likely target.

I have 4 visible networks available at my house (including mine). Mine has SSID broadcast off, MAC filtering, WPA2, and is automatically turned off from midnight till 7am.
1 neighbor is wide open (I have told him and he does not care, even after I showed him what could happen) 1 has WEP and the other is WPA.
Not real hard to figure out which network somebody would go for.
