Default AT&T U-Verse VS. COX Cable

I have a dilemma folks. I've never been in an area with Cox Cable, Or At&T Uverse.

I'm moving to an area with both available, and I'd like to know if anyone has had experience with U-Verse.

I have had SBC (at&t) yahoo ADSL before, and quite frankly it wasn't as nice as cable internet.

As far as having a phone package, I don't care for it. I use a cellphone for everything.

Which one has the best bandwidth, Good Service, most reliable, and good for Gaming?

Please respond to the question asked. Is At&t U-verse (not the yahoo dsl crap), as good, or better than cox cable internet.

I was using Cable, but they usually have limits on downloads/uploads since it's shared.

DSL has no limits, connection is not shared and I went with them.

Speed wise, you won't notice much of a difference. Cable could be slower if those you are sharing the connection, in the neighbourhood, happen to be on at the same time.

Also the DSL modem comes with a router and wireless. With cable, I had to get the router seperately and the cable company refused to support router advice.

When it comes to cable, ask questions from your provider.

I just left TimeWarner to go to Uverse because TimeWarner was a nightmare - never a solid connection and dropped servers left and right.

I was the first in my neighborhood to get AT&T Uverse - U400 Package+6mb internet.

In the begining - awesome. 6 months later, more and more people started getting it, internet slowed down, and TV signal started to look as if I had satellite TV and it was storming.

Now the TV signal is OK (for the most part) but now the sound will literally just cut out.

I personally cannot speak to any of the customer service reps anymore since I cannot tolerate them anymore.

But in the big scheme of things - it doesn't matter - you're a consumer who's bound to get screwed. Try one, if that fails, try the other.

My Vote goes to Either.

Thanks for answering the question I asked! It's sad that either way you look at, most often there is not a perfect solution..

have used both comcast and u-verse and thus far have found the u-verse to be a much better solution. Speed wise i notice no difference.

since most/all telephone company services are crap, i would choose cable. still may or may not be just as bad.

EDIT: From what I have heard, Cox IS NOT Comcrap or Time Warner ect. They are much better.

I'm wondering if Uverse just does everything based on your internet package. If that's the case they just came out with their 18MB internet package I may upgrade too. Although, that would be fairly crappy if your internet sucked because you were watching TV on more than one connection and vice versa...

If that's the case then I'll drop down to the U200 or 300 and bump up the internet...

I have used cox for my high-speed internet for about 7 years, and I have never ever had a problem with them. They are a bit pricey, but I have ALWAYS gotten faster than rated speed in all the download tests. I pay for a 6MB downlaod speed and usually get 16, but that just may be my area. I very very seldomly have an issue with connectivity, however I have intermittant problems with my modem just resetting itself and losing my signal. That may be my modem since it is the same one that I have had since I first got cox and i have never upgraded it.

Any time that I have had to call customer service for an issue, they have been very helpful and quick in identifying my problem and recitifying it when possible.

Whever service technicians need to come to my house, the technicians are ALWAYS on time, always very helpful, and always go the extra mile to rectify my situation.

I have no experience with Uverse, but I have heard about throttling and download caps with them, something that I personally have never had a problem with.

My vote goes for Cox.
