Ok i just Got RoadRunner installed in the apartment i live in and it overall is ok but i dont get why i have such different Speeds depending on if im using my Wifi or Not.
On wireless card im lucky to break 5Mb (Never really do) Yet on Direct Ethernet im Constently over 15Mb (Seattle WA Gives me 15, Closer servers such as Dallas and Atlanta give me more. ) And i have no clue why the difference. Im only working at 1/3 speed and would much like this fixed (If anybody has a clue) Oh, Also im never getting the peak 30Mb i occasionally got to the GA server (from NC) that i got with my old motorola non wifi surfboard. ![]()

I'm not sure what your question is?
__________________You'll almost always get slower speeds on wireless. Especially on low-end store bought routers. They normally slow down due to the processing of the encryption.

Unless you have fiber, a wireless connection won't make much of a difference (on 802.11g). Do you perhaps have your router set to use 802.11b instead of 802.11g? Those are the speeds you'd be getting with a low-end 802.11b router.

Where is your wireless router placed? I have a 20mbs connection and using wired i will hit that no problems, if i then use my laptop i will normally get around 12mbs which is more then acceptable, these speeds can change depending on where the router/modem is placed, your location/distance from the wireless equipment.

54/8=6.75Mbps minus the overhead/interference/network lag. And I'd say your around what you should be.
