I use a 10/100 Mbit switch. Since I need to have external IP addresses for some of my machines they go straight to the switch and get allocated IPs from the cable modem; those computers use the Windows native firewall after being updated to SP3 (or Vista native after SP1). For machines like laptops and roommate computers, those go to the WRT54GL, which is connected to the switch as well.
Given the rolly-eyes nature of your post, I'd like to know what you think needs changing.
