Rackmount cases are possible, but it can sometimes be difficult adapting them to a desktop PC. The cheaper route would be to get shelves for your rack and store each PC horizontally. Each PC would probably be 4U (7" height on the rack, or 7" wide as they stand on the ground) and with a 19" rack, the smaller Mid Towers may or may not fit. The other option, leaving them in existing cases, is storing them side-by-side vertically, which works, but doesn't look quite as sleek, in my opinion. Some people create shelves for those using 1U equipment, but be wary of the weight.

Other then that it looks like you put a lot of time and effort into the map and network layout, looks great.

How do you think I could get for BEAST though? I paid like $30 for it on Craigslist. I'm sure it's worth a bit more than that if someone even wants it.

Try listing it on Craigslist for $40 maybe, it really isn't too useful or powerful compared to what you can get these days. Plus it sucks down a good bit more power then desktops that are tons faster.

Looks good.
Since you have machines that 'need jobs', I'd recommend that you dedicate one as a Linux firewall (Smoothwall is a great firewall app) and place it before the switch or even before the router as a security measure. I assume the 6X300GB storage solution is a NAS, otherwise it would not be on a network topology, correct? Is the 'System Disk' storage also network-attached, or is it simply an external HDD? It doesn't really affect the topology, I am just curious. ![]() Also, try using MS Visio for creating topologies. It's an excellent tool. EDIT: Below is a simple topology I created a while back for a project I was working on, just to show what a Visio topology can look like. ![]()

The 6x external drives are just hooked up via usb to the iMac. And the system disk is hooked up to the eMac via usb. I just wanted to put those up there lol.
I'm trying to get Untangle to work right on the duron (BORON) rig. Not working to well right now. And I'm thinking of adding a sata pci card to the sempron rig and putting FreeNAS on it.

I'd actually spend the money on a switch, be it 100mBit or gigabit. If it's a 10\100 switch you're using to service all the LAN computers, you're going to pay the price if you have to do any LAN transfers.
My entire house is networked on a gigabit standard, gig wiring, gig switch in the basement which is hooked to a gig router. I'd recommend you do the same, especially if you have networked harddrives which would use the speed.
