How does this network layout look? I'm going to redo my network and here's what I'm thinking of doing. Suggestions on how to better it and all?
![]() The family pc is a desktop downstairs, my mom doesn't want me to run cables or anything, so that's why it's wireless. So, any advice? EDIT: The print server is in my room, for my little networked rigs and is going to be new.

What hardware is in the rack if anything?
And It looks good. Hows it currently setup? If argon and the print server is in your room maybe run one line up and have another switch/hub?

It's currently setup just scattered lol. I honestly don't know how everyone is online either the way it is now.
As for the rack, it holds the switch, modem, router, audio boards, dvrs, external drives and that's it. I'm looking at getting two 2-3U rack cases and moving my Sempron (OXYGEN) and Duron (BORON) rigs to those and setting them up in the rack. I might even move my main sig rig (Argon) to a rack case as well and set it up in there. Just to clear off my desk and all. When I get the print server built, it'll be on the rack as well. Now, if only I could find a few matching, CHEAP rack mount cases for a 19" rack ![]() EDIT: What size rack cases would I need for standard desktop computers you think? 3U or 4U? I wonder if this one would work ok. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811219029 The only thing I see that might be a problem is the I/O panel and maybe the PSU slot. Any ideas?

Other than database being misspelled, it looks good.
I'd consider upgrading if that "Super Old Switch" is 10/100; I have Gigabit, and I love it.

So, it looks like everything would be able to connect just fine with that layout? And yea, I need to get a new gigabit switch. All my rigs have gigabit nics in em except for the sempron and duron rigs.
So, what about rackmount cases for my desktops, except LENNY and MARGE? Possible, do it, mod it, what?

Most definitely a good looking network map. In light of so many clients, I would think about replacing your 24-port switch with a newer managed switch, but that's just me. As-is, a very promising endeavor.

I really need to just figure out where I wanna put the rack though. Right now, it's sitting between the wall and my desk to create a sort of enclosed cubicle area. I'm thinking of moving it out some and having the front face me and the rear exposed to the other side. Not sure yet. Here's a picture of how it is now, minus the arrangement of pc in the back, it's now on the glass desk beside the others. Bed is moved as well out of that pic. So, how should I move the rack? There's no desk in the corner no more and I might move my corner desk there, idk yet.

Setup an NIDS or move the rack in a client setup to the switch/router.
What do you have running on the BEAST? Hopefully a firewall or IDS of some sort. The overall setup seems slightly redundant.

NIDS???
BEAST is offline right now. Gotta wait until I can afford to power that thing, hence the name. My light bill shot up $150 just on that one thing in a month. Can't be having that happen each month now. So, it's offline for a while now. So, I guess I need to find another cheap server that doesn't use up as much power as that thing did. But it held my mail, web, ftp, firewall server. Here's how I may get the rack looking like.
