Default What ADSL modem do i buy?
i've been looking for a modem and i'm not too sure where to start. I just got a static IP address and apparently the modem my ISP gave me blocks server access...?

so, im looking for a new modem as the one I have doesn't work. what should i buy? I have a UK address as well as an APO address so i can buy from UK or US, shipping cost doesn't matter too much. for the most part im just looking to do an FTP server for personal use

no, to get a static address they wont offer me any help what so ever! its a commercial account so they wont help...

for a modem all you need really is any ADSL modem and set it to get ip from provider i think or set it for the ip you were given. what provider do you have because some may only take specific brands.
