We've had a wireless setup throughout our house for a while and lately i've been into BF2 online and i need some better pings. We are using a Linksys Wireless G router and a wireless G pci card in my computer. The computer with the router is downstairs and my computer is upstairs, so it has to travel through a few walls and stuff.
__________________I already ran a cat5e ethernet cord up to my room. How much better connection should i expect? I know with the wireless, the internet would always seem to connect and disconnect as it pleased. so i could never get a good, stable connection to play games on. If it's THAT much better then we are gonna run another cable to my brother's room on the second story as well. He doesn't do hardly any gaming on his computer at all, just browsing the internet and watching videos and pics and streaming stuff like that. Bottom line. How much better is a Cat5e cord than a wireless connection?

but really tho, i have wireless at home and it works fine, but i would still rather have a lan cable pluged into the back of my computer, it says my wlan speed is 125mbps and my lan speed is 100mbps but when im pulling over files i never get more than like 5% whare as with cat5 i could get like 70%. hope that helps

It makes all the difference in the world. Also files transfer speeds are far superior to wireless.

From my experience it will help in gaming a great deal. With wireless your ping goes to the crapper so with hard wire you'll have better pings and thus better gaming.

__________________I have another question. For some reason, my dad's internet settings were somehow changed. IT seems as though that cookie's were disabled and i can't get them back on. Whenever i log into a forum, and it won't keep my info long enough to do anything, it keeps asking me to log in over and over. I've went into internet options, and tried to mess around with it but still no luck.

That can be the user settings in controls.

i've got it hooked up and it's made all the difference. BF2 didn't lag ONE time, and downloads are a lot faster. Thanks for the advice all.
