Hi, I've been trying to fix this problem for a couple weeks now without any luck so I thought maybe some one here can give me a hand.
__________________I have a d-link wbr-2310 firmware 1.02. I looked for an update on the firmware but the only update fixes something with virtual networks so I didnt download it. I have three PC's in the household altogether. I have an old XP machine that is plugged into the router via ethernet. I have my pc which connects through a usb dongle. And the third pc is what I'm having trouble with. It is running Vista with SP2 its a compaq which is a couple years old but not too old. The chip is a broadcom but I dont know which model. The model of the compaq is f572us if it matters. I was using wep for probably half a year just out of laziness and everything on the network worked flawlessly and I never had a problem come up. Just recently I decided to ramp up the security and changed the ssid and made it hidden along with wpa2-personal using TKIP and PSK. After making the changes to the router I added the network manually to my computer and the compaq. At first all the computers were able to connect automatically just fine (I do have connect even if network is not availble option checked since i chose to hide the ssid) After a week or so the compaq wouldnt connect and a simple restart of the router would get it back online. Restarting the router all the time was annoying but a quick fix until it just wouldnt connect anymore even after a restart and thats where I'm at right now. I tried switching between AES and TKIP and its still the same problem. I checked the dhcp settings to make sure there werent any problems with the IP's being assigned to each computer and there arent any problems. Last night I hooked up the compaq to the router through ethernet and changed the router settings to AES/PSK and then disconnected the ethernet and viola the wireless worked again. I thought I fixed it until this morning it started doing the same thing again. I'm pretty sure it's not the card in the compaq as I'm able to connect to my neighbors network just fine with it. I also know that the card can support wpa2 because like I said it was working for about a week. Sorry for the long thread I just didnt want to leave anything out. I'm fresh out of ideas, can you help?

What's probably happening is that the wireless connection for some reason is being dropped by the compaq. When it then tries to reconnect it doesn't find the ssid. When I experimented with hiding the ssid I also had a problem with one of my old laptops doing that. I think you should just allow the ssid to be broadcasted. As long as you have security on it you'll be fine especially with WPA2.
